In September 2005 we welcomed our first batch of 26 children, aged 6 to 12 years old to Camp Coconut. All of these children have lost their mothers in the Tsunami and their fathers are finding it difficult to cope.
In addition to these children, we will, over time, be providing activities for a wider age range. All of these children will be from the local area of Kamburugamuwa, Welligama and Matara and will have been directly affected by the Tsunami either through loss of close family members or their homes having been damaged or destroyed.
We intend to provide for these children a safe haven in which to play and learn new skills as well as one main meal a day.
As we get to know them and their families, we will be posting details of them on the website (photos, background and any specific needs that they may have) and will be asking you to help us support them by sponsoring individual children through regular donations.
Please revisit this section of the website to find out further details, once we have launched the scheme or register your interest by completing the form below and we will get back to you when we have further information. Thanks for your interest.
