Who We Are

website6
Camp Coconut is a charitable venture set up to give some purpose to the lives of local children of the Matara District of Southern Sri Lanka, through physical activity and learning in a safe, secure, child-friendly and fun-filled environment.

We espouse Christian values and aim to treat all children with the same love and respect, irrespective of their background, ethnicity, creed or religious beliefs and upbringing.

We are dedicated to provide a resource for local children over the longer term and have taken a long lease on the property that will allow us to develop activity programs over a period of years rather than months. The facilities that we create will be made available to local children’s groups at NO charge and these will have been funded purely from the generous donations of our family, friends and supporters from around the world.

We eventually plan to employ upwards of ten people to help us run the centre and the activity programs and will work in partnership with both local and national charitable groups who share our vision and values (see Our Partners)

NO donations to Camp Coconut will go towards supporting our own livelihood and those of our children. All proceeds are channelled into the setting up & running of Camp Coconut itself.

Dependant upon future funding levels, we may reserve the right to make some of the facilities available on a cost plus basis to schools, churches and other community groups across the island (and possibly on a residential basis) – the sole purpose being to help fund the annual maintenance costs of the overall activity program.
